The
Chapter 11 Case
Chapter
11 of the bankruptcy code allows a corporation or partnership to reorganize
its business. In Chapter 11, the company being reorganized, called the
Debtor, files a number of schedules detailing their assets, liabilities,
debts, and other obligations. A bar date is established, determining when
Creditors must submit their claims. Once this date has passed and claims
against the estate are known, a Plan is formulated. After being approved
by various stakeholders, this Plan allows the company to exit bankruptcy.
